Fluctuation of Soil Bacterial Dehydrogenase Activity in Response to the Application of Endosulfan and Chlorpyrifos
نویسنده
چکیده
The effects of two different categories of pesticides viz. chlorpyrifos (an organophosphate) and endosulfan (an organochlorine cyclodiene) were evaluated on soil dehydrogenase activity. The medium and higher dose of endosulfan resulted in the significant decrease in dehydrogenase activity till third and fourth week of treatment, respectively. In case of chlorpyrifos, decrease in dehydrogenase activity was observed till second week at medium dose and till fourth week at higher dose, compared to untreated control. In comparison to control, the activity of dehydrogenase decreased by 16% and increased by 25% in presence of 10 ppm each of endosulfan and chlorpyrifos, respectively, after 14 days. The combined effect of chlorpyrifos and endosulfan showed inhibitory effect at both medium and higher doses, for the treatment duration of four weeks. The maximum inhibition (62%) in soil dehydrogenase activity was noticed in presence of 50 ppm each of chlorpyrifos and endosulfan after first day of treatment.

Preliminary Report of NAD+-Dependent Amino Acid Dehydrogenase Producing Bacteria Isolated from Soil
Amino acid dehydrogenases (L-amino acid: oxidoreductase deaminating EC 1.4.1.X) are members of the wider superfamily of oxidoreductases that catalyze the reversible oxidative deamination of an amino acid to its keto acid and ammonia with the concomitant reduction of either NAD+, NADP+ or FAD. These enzymes have been received much attention as biocatalysts for use in biosensors or diagnostic kit...

Background and Aim: Chlorpyrifos is an organophosphate pesticide used in agriculture for pest control. It is a relatively persistent poison and an environmental pollutant with adverse effects on human health. This study was conducted to isolate and characterize chlorpyrifos-degrading bacteria from rice field soils in Amol City, Iran. Materials and Methods: In this experimental study, soil sa...

The purpose of this study was to isolate and characterize Proline Dehydrogenase (ProDH) enzyme frommicroorganisms isolated from soil in Iran. Isolation and screening of L-proline degradative enzymes from soilsamples was carried out. The isolate was characterized by biochemical markers and 16S rRNA geneanalysis. The target ProDH was purified and the effects of pH and temperatur...
متن کاملPesticide occurrence in selected South Florida canals and Biscayne Bay during high agricultural activity.
Climate and soil conditions in South Florida along with an extensive canal system facilitate movement of agricultural pesticides into surface waters. In a two-year study (2002-2004) of the currently used pesticides in South Florida, atrazine, endosulfan, metolachlor, chlorpyrifos, and chlorothalonil were the most frequently detected in the canals and in Biscayne Bay, with average concentrations...
